Ladies I need advice...
So I got into a facebook fight and I need advice on what my next comment should be. A woman from my church posted some stupid little app thing on her facebook about how she is posting an American flag against the building of a mosque on Ground Zero. I think this is ridiculous as its not a mosque nor is it on Ground Zero. I'm going to copy and paste the argument and then I would like y'all to help me come up with a final response.

Cindy's stupid app post: I'm flying this flag to oppose the Muslim worship center at Ground Zero.
I am the 303,785th person to fly the flag in opposition of Muslim mosque at Ground Zero. I hope 5 million will join me! No app install required.

Me: You know that it isn't really a mosque, nor is it being built on Ground Zero right? Its more like a YMCA that Muslims can pray in if they would like a few blocks away. And its already there, its just being remodeled.

Glory: WELL IF IT IS NOT A MOSQUE. WHY - WHY ARE THEY "OPPOSEING -IT". IF THEY CAN PRAY " IN A LIKE YMCA ' IT IS A "MOSQUE". THANK'S CINDY I'AM FLYING A FLAG.

Glory: ALSO CINDY I ASK ALL MY FBF TO FLY ONE TO. IT IS NOT A 'YMCA'. THE NERVE!!

Me: They are opposing it because the media is making it sound as if it is something that it isn't. A mosque can't have a place to eat it in it nor can it can have a basketball hoop in it. You didn't oppose it when you didn't know that it was ...there. It is already there; its just a remodeling. And besides the fact, the American flag means the Freedom of Religion. We can't pick and choose what religions are allowed to follow that. Muslims died at the WTC as victims in that attack and in the War against Terror in the Middle East fighting for freedoms. American's used the Bible to support the use of slaves in the 1860s, so does that mean we shouldn't put Christian churches in the South? During the Middle Ages, the English Church used the Bible to support the Crusades, should we not have churches in Europe. Not allowing something to be built just because it happens to be close to something is a slippery slope to be on. I don't want the government telling me not to build my Church just because. And the terrorists are loving this...Americans putting up such a fight against anything Muslim or the Muslim people, its only feeding fuel to their fire and giving them more of a reason to attack us.

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned." -- Luke 6:37

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." - John 13:34

Glory: i will not argue with you. i know the bible you don't have to throw scripture's to me. i'll just say one thing i have a nephew that was deployed to afghanistan 2 mt's ago. he was not here to celebrate his son's 1 st. birthday.he's over ther...e to protect you & america. and if you have the faith like in your quotes of the "bible". pray for them. and they are in need of care-package's. i just have to say i would imagine you don't care what practice someone might do,to move next door to your home. according to you the "american flag" means freedom of" any pratice" " GOD BLESS".

Me: I'm sorry that I threw scripture at you, but the church that I was raised in taught me that trying to force one religion onto another doesn't work and only doing things through love works. But I don't know where you came from making it sou...nd like I don't support our troops. I do support our troops. That has nothing to do with the argument that I was making, nor does it have anything to do with your argument. Your nephew should be commended as should all of our soldiers. Especially in this day and age when we don't have a draft, and they are going there of their own free will. But they are fighting for the rights of our Constitution, and the First Amendment of our Constitution says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." They have every right to build their community center, or mosque or whatever it is. And if were to start passing laws, saying that one religion can't build a place of worship, who is to say that in a hundred years, it will be made illegal for you to build a church someplace. Our country was founded on the belief that people under religious persecution could come to our country and practice freely. And I think its scary to start going down that road. I wouldn't have a problem if Muslims moved next door to me. I went to a Catholic High School with Muslim girls and they always seemed very nice. And you know good and well that when I was saying that one of the things the American Flag stands for is "freedom of religion," I don't mean freedom to do anything. I never said that, nor did I insinuate that. I think it means freedom of religion and maybe their religion isn't what you or I believe and maybe their religion isn't correct, but they have every right to practice it.

Glory: the people are not saying they can not build a mosque. just not "there." they have one two block's from were they want to put this one. i have a face-book friend who is a muslim she live's in cairo, egypt she see's my support and never bring's up the subject. " go figure "? last time i'am going to respond !!!!!!!

Me: It is the renovation of a mosque that is already there. It was already two blocks away. You didn't seem to have a problem with it then.

Glory: why don't you run for president when you ' grow-up"!

Now ladies, how do I respond to this. I want to be really mean and I think I've been really pleasant so far. But I just want to be mean and catty. And any response that I come up with is mean and catty. And that is going to ruin my whole argument about love and peace and all that. I want to call her old and ignorant. Her arguments have nothing to do with the topic at hand and her grammar is reprehensible. I also want to say that she is very un-Christian and that she is rude and a racist. She started at me with her capslock yelling and that I wonder what her Muslim friend thinks about her not wanting her to live next door to her.

Please help me ladies.

This is what I'd say...

You know what Glory? That's a good idea, maybe I will. And if I ever become president I will certainly do everything in my power to uphold ALL religious freedoms. I would fight for the rights of Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhist, Wiccans, and even you whom I disagree with, because religious freedom is what makes America great.

And if she wants it after that, let her have the last word.

Hmmm...thats not bad...not bad at all. I will keep that in mind. Thanks. Did you like my arguments?

Yes, they were very good. I think it's funny that she came back with "I know the bible" after you put bible passages but could only say "why don't you run for president" after you put something from the constitution. She is clearly not very well educated.

I have to admit though....I stole that last line from an article I read about an anti-protest protester who had "Religious freedom is what makes America great" on a sign and went to the anti-mosque side where some who had a sign about this being a Christian nation told him "if there weren't cops here, you'd be bleeding!" Nice right? Anyway, his sign stuck with me....obviously. :)

Yikes!

I'm thinking about putting something like, "I'm sorry, I was trying to have an intellectual conversation with you, but clearly that is not what you want...if you want to lower yourself to insulting people have at it."
